In the early 1940s, new uniform concepts were being developed within the U.S. armed forces. The "Monkey Pant" from 1944 was part of a new concept introduced by the U.S.M.C. (United States Marine Corps). The goal was to provide soldiers with as much material and carrying capacity as possible, which led to the inclusion of large and numerous pockets.

The official name of the trousers was P44 Trousers, but due to the somewhat unusual pocket arrangement, they quickly earned the nickname "Monkey Pant" among soldiers. This nickname has stuck around to this day, and over the years, the Monkey Pant has evolved into a true style icon. Since original pieces are now very hard to find, we’ve brought this milestone in textile history back to life.

Our 1944 Monkey Pant is crafted just like the original—from the characteristically lightweight herringbone twill cotton to the three large sewn-on pockets designed for gear.
