This Henley sweatshirt takes cues from 1920s and ’30s underwear, with a distinctive shell-button placket shifted slightly to the left. The detail is subtle but gives the garment a unique character.
The fabric was developed from scratch, referencing mid-century sweatshirts. Made in Japan from 15.5oz (530g) cotton, it offers warmth and presence without stiffness.
Thicker yarns give it weight, while the surface is knitted with air-spun open-end cotton, creating an uneven, dry texture. The interior uses slub yarn to mirror the feel of early fleece garments. As it’s worn, the cloth softens, and subtly shifts in tone.
The outcome is straightforward yet distinctive, with depth you can see and feel.
