The Claypool is Freenote Cloth’s take on a classic ranch jacket, built in the USA from a 10oz cotton waxed canvas that already looks like it has a few stories behind it.
The Oak canvas has a broken-in surface from the start, with the wax picking up creases, scuffs and lighter marks wherever the jacket moves. Wear it hard and that character only gets better.
The shape is unmistakably Western, with front patch pockets built into the yoke closure, two lower welt pockets and a dark brown corduroy collar. Around the back, an action-back construction with shoulder gussets gives the jacket extra movement without making the fit look loose or bulky.
Inside, things get louder. The body is fully lined in 100% cotton Southwestern fabric in deep blue, red and natural tones, while the sleeves use a smoother cotton-rayon lining so the jacket slips on easily over shirts and knitwear. There is also an interior pocket for the stuff you would rather not lose.
As you would expect from Freenote, the construction is serious: 1/8" double-needle stitching, custom YKK metal hardware and custom-made USA labels throughout.
A tough little ranch jacket with a lot going on under the surface. The sort of thing that will look considerably better after you stop worrying about keeping it clean.
